African Youths: Rise Up and Demand Change
Dear African youth, We face pressing challenges while we focus on trivial debates. Instead of demanding accountability, we become tools in elections. Our leaders exploit ethnic divisions, echoing the old divide-and-rule tactics. Africa holds over half the world’s diamonds, two-thirds of untapped arable land and half of global cobalt. Yet extreme poverty, hunger and power shortages persist. These stark facts must spur us to action. You are never too young to lead. Remember Kwame Nkrumah, Thomas Sankara and Patrice Lumumba—visionaries in their 30s. Our children and their children deserve better. Participate actively in politics. Vote beyond ethnicity or religion. Reject bribes and election violence. Speak out against corruption and run for office if you can. As Nelson Mandela said, “It always seems impossible until it’s done.” Let change begin with you.
