First Lady to Inaugurate ECoN Innovation Programme in Kano

First Lady to Inaugurate ECoN Innovation Programme in Kano

Kano State will host the national launch of Energise Commercialisation Now (ECoN). First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu will formally unveil the three-day programme from April 23 to 25, 2026. Driven by the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, the initiative aims to turn ideas into marketable products and attract investment across key sectors of the economy. The event will bring together federal and state officials, governors’ spouses from the North-West, representatives of academic and research institutions, innovators, start-ups, investors, and traditional leaders. Highlights include a high-level panel on federal-state collaboration for industrial growth and a mini exhibition showcasing homegrown innovations. The launch positions Kano and the wider North-West at the heart of Nigeria’s shift to an innovation-led economy.

A three-day programme seems brief; it might favour big ideas over everyday innovators who need time and resources to refine their projects.
