FG and ALGON Unite to Bring Clean Cooking Gas to All 774 LGAs
The Federal Government and the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria have strengthened their partnership to accelerate Liquefied Petroleum Gas adoption in all 774 Local Government Areas. During a high-level meeting in Abuja, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas) and ALGON leaders discussed the LPG Grassroots Penetration Programme. They agreed on joint committees, awareness campaigns, and pilot schemes to ensure equitable cylinder distribution and community engagement. The minister praised ALGON’s role in bridging policy gaps and stressed the benefits of switching from firewood and kerosene. He highlighted reduced deforestation, lower indoor air pollution, and improved health outcomes for women and children. ALGON also committed to mobilising local communities, monitoring implementation, and working with private partners to drive Nigeria’s clean energy transition and sustainable development.
