Early April Showers Bring Relief to Birnin Kebbi Farmers
Birnin Kebbi recorded its first rain of the year at around 4 a.m. on Monday, following a heavy windstorm and dust. Local farmers told the News Agency of Nigeria that the early downpour will motivate many to clear their fields and prepare for the main planting season. Some had expected rains in May, but this April shower has accelerated their plans. Residents said the rainfall also eased the lingering heat and reduced the demand for ice blocks and cold water in town. Experts had previously advised caution before rushing into farming activities, but the cooler temperatures have already brought relief to the community.
