Three men claiming to be Islamic clerics appeared before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan over allegations of defrauding a man of N2.3 million. The accused—aged 49, 50 and 52—are charged with conspiracy, fraud and stealing after allegedly collecting the money on the promise of a spiritual cleansing for the complainant’s son. The prosecutor told the court the suspects converted the funds for personal use and ignored demands for repayment. They pleaded not guilty to all counts.
