Cholera Outbreak in Plateau: Five Dead, 53 Suspected Cases
Plateau State health authorities have confirmed a cholera outbreak that has claimed five lives and left 11 people infected so far. Laboratory tests are ongoing for 53 suspected cases. The affected areas include Pushit, Mangu 1, and Mangu 2 in Mangu Local Government Area. Rapid Response Teams have been deployed and treatment centres expanded to contain the spread. Emergency supplies such as diagnostic kits, intravenous fluids, and essential medicines are now in place. An Incident Management System has been activated to coordinate all response activities. Residents are urged to drink safe water, practise proper hand hygiene, avoid open defecation, and seek medical care immediately if symptoms appear.
