APC to Hold Direct Primaries in All 36 States, Bars Consensus Picks Ahead of 2026 Elections

The All Progressives Congress has informed INEC and its members that it will conduct direct primary elections in every state and the Federal Capital Territory for the 2026 cycle. The party emphasized that consensus candidacies are no longer allowed. According to the published timetable, presidential primaries will take place May 15–16, 2026, followed by House of Representatives on May 18, Senate on May 20, State House of Assembly on May 21, and governorship contests on May 23. APC leadership assured all aspirants of a level playing field, affirming that every member will have the opportunity to participate directly.
