Atiku’s Aide Warns Deregistration Order Threatens Nigeria’s Democracy

Paul Ibe, an aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has condemned a Federal High Court ruling that directs INEC to deregister the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and several other parties. Speaking on social media, Ibe called the judgment a deliberate attempt to weaken opposition ahead of the 2027 elections and push Nigeria toward a one-party state. He noted that an appeal is already pending before the Court of Appeal and warned that sidelining opposition groups would limit Nigerians’ political choices and undermine democratic governance.
