Ashley Young Reveals He Needs Hip Replacement After Retiring at 40

Former Manchester United winger Ashley Young says he needs a hip replacement after years of playing through severe pain. Young, who retired at 40, said scans showed he was "bone on bone" in his hip, with no cartilage left. He had injections to manage the pain but was advised that another injection could further weaken the area. He said the injury left him unable to train for two or three months during the final part of the season. Despite medical advice, he returned to training and made himself available for his club's last three matches as they secured promotion.
