Betrayal and Corruption: Why Nigeria Remains in Crisis

Nigeria remains trapped by the legacy of military rule and high-level betrayal. Generals who escaped justice overseas continue to influence politics at home. Unlike Ghana’s relative stability under Rawlings, Nigeria endures mass looting. Retired officers now rake in billions, while ordinary citizens struggle with rising poverty. Politics has become a business. Parties lack ideology and politicians jump ship for personal gain. The national cake is their only prize. Foreign terrorists, destabilized by external powers, use Nigeria as a battleground. Both extremist groups and foreign crusaders exploit religious tensions. Meanwhile, global conflicts distract us from tackling these deep-rooted problems.
