Super Eagles and NFF President Console Chukwueze at Mother's Funeral
Samuel Chukwueze laid his mother to rest in Abia State on May 29, surrounded by teammates, football officials and dignitaries. The AC Milan winger missed the initial rites in January while on loan in England. Under southeastern Nigerian customs, the burial took place at the end of the football season. Nigeria Football Federation President Ibrahim Gusau, along with fellow Super Eagles stars Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidozie Awaziem, joined the ceremony. Chukwueze, dressed in traditional white, was visibly moved as he bid his mother farewell. The funeral drew government officials, influencers and business figures. Despite his grief, Chukwueze later greeted guests with a faint smile during the reception.
