Speaking on the Mic On Podcast, he accused Mele Kyari of facilitating the appointment and said it bypassed regular interviews and qualifications. He argued this pattern reflects entrenched nepotism at the NNPC, where children and relatives of top officials often land key roles. Oshiomhole emphasised that employing relatives is only problematic if they lack merit or the proper vetting is skipped. He also defended the Senate’s decision to challenge a bench warrant against Kyari, noting the legislature’s constitutional powers in oversight matters.
