Discerning God’s Voice from Human Desire
Not every good-sounding thought comes from God. In Matthew 16, Peter first declares “You are the Christ” by divine revelation. Yet moments later he rebukes Jesus about His coming death and is answered, “Get thee behind me, Satan.” This teaches us to test the source of our words and inspirations. We must discern by the Holy Spirit and Scripture. As 1 John 4:1 warns, don’t believe every spirit. And 1 Thessalonians 5:20-21 urges us to test everything and hold fast to what is good. Stay filled with the Spirit and let God’s Word dwell in you richly. Prayer: Father, grant me spiritual discernment. May I recognize the true source of every thought and walk in Your perfect will. Amen. Further Study: Matthew 16:16–23; 1 Thessalonians 5:20–21
