Libyans Protest Irregular Migrants, Insist ‘Our Love for Libya Is Not Racism’

Protesters gathered outside the UNHCR office in Tripoli to demand that irregular migrants and refugees leave Libya. They chanted “Libya belongs to Libyans” and held signs reading “Our love for our country is not racism” and “Libya is not the world’s garbage bin.” Libya is a key departure point for migrants aiming to reach Europe. The UN mission in Libya warned against misinformation and inflammatory rhetoric targeting specific groups. It urged authorities to address incitement and protect public order, social cohesion, and individual rights.
