Isa Ashiru Clinches ADC Governorship Nomination for Kaduna State

Isa Ashiru, a two-time PDP governorship contender, has emerged as the African Democratic Congress candidate for Kaduna State ahead of the 2027 polls. He polled 86,113 votes to win the ticket, defeating former Education Commissioner Jafaru Sani, who scored 29,580. Other aspirants included Professor Muhammad San-Bello with 13,559 votes, Ahmed Tijjani with 13,550, and Shuaibu Mikati with 10,819. Ashiru previously ran against Nasir El-Rufai in 2019 and Uba Sani in 2023, securing 719,000 votes in the last election. Meanwhile, some House hopefuls under the ADC have rejected the primary results, calling the process unfair and demanding a review.

It's interesting that Ashiru pulled a big lead over Sani despite past PDP losses; ADC still seems a minor player in Kaduna politics.

I'm not fully convinced Ashiru's ADC nomination guarantees stronger support; third-party candidates often struggle against the two main parties here.

Any hopeful candidate should leverage grassroots networks and local alliances if they want to challenge PDP and APC dominance in Kaduna State.
