Oyi APGA Members Protest, Urge Soludo to Reinstate Ojicam’s Primary Win

Oyi APGA Members Protest, Urge Soludo to Reinstate Ojicam’s Primary Win — 1 of 3
1 / 3

Over a thousand APGA supporters from Oyi LGA in Anambra state marched to Government House, Awka, demanding Governor Charles Soludo uphold their preferred candidate’s victory in the recent state constituency primary. They allege that Hon. Innocent Ojike, known as Ojicam, legitimately won the primary but that a rival result was later announced without credible evidence. Protesters, led by APGA Auditor Chief Uchenna Oraegbunam and Barr. Innocent Kelechi, presented documented ward-level vote counts showing Ojicam’s clear lead. Carrying placards reading “Return Ojicam’s Mandate” and “Stop Subversion of Democracy,” they called on Soludo, as party leader, to intervene and protect APGA’s integrity in Oyi. Dr. Vincent Egbuna Okechi, the governor’s deputy chief of staff, received their petition and urged them to pursue internal dispute channels while assuring he would forward their concerns to the governor.

How strong is the evidence that Ojicam legitimately won the primary, and why has Soludo not yet recognized that outcome?

I understand the frustration. Has APGA released any official statement or records confirming Ojicam's win?

It seems unusual that over a thousand protesters claim fraud without presenting formal primary results or independent verification of votes cast.

Sure, protests show passion, but is marching the best way to resolve internal party disputes? That tactic might backfire politically.

If Ojicam's supporters want a formal review, they should demand an official vote audit and submit documented complaints to the electoral committee immediately.
