London’s High Court has thrown out Prince Harry’s legal claims that journalists at the Daily Mail unlawfully gathered private information. After an 11-week trial, the judge ruled the claimants could not prove any of the 97 allegations, including phone hacking, surveillance or unauthorized bank access. Associated Newspapers described the verdict as an overwhelming victory and said it will seek recovery of the £50 million spent on its defence. Prince Harry and six other claimants, including Elton John and Elizabeth Hurley, are set to return to court in late July to determine liability for legal costs. The ruling came as the duke attended an Invictus Games countdown event in London. He is on a five-day UK visit focused on the Birmingham 2027 Games, while his brother, Prince William, promoted the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
