Bala Mohammed Accuses Tinubu Administration of Weaponizing EFCC, Rejects Joining APC

Bala Mohammed Accuses Tinubu Administration of Weaponizing EFCC, Rejects Joining APC

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State claims the federal government is using agencies like the EFCC and the courts to intimidate and silence those who refuse to align with the All Progressives Congress. Speaking at a press conference, he warned that continued targeting of opposition figures could prompt strong resistance. “If they don’t stop, we are prepared to declare a war,” he said, adding that he will not be criminalized for refusing to join the ruling party. The governor also dismissed suggestions he would defect and emphasized his commitment to democratic principles over party affiliation. His remarks come amid broader concerns about the role of federal institutions in political struggles. Separately, Minister of the FCT Nyesom Wike revealed that Bala Mohammed recently urged him to pause the PDP’s national convention so that aggrieved members could engage in dialogue.

Bala Mohammed claims the EFCC is being used to intimidate opponents. What do you think is driving this accusation?

It's striking that a governor would openly accuse the EFCC and courts without providing concrete evidence of partisan motives.

I no sure say EFCC go just dey target people for political standing without any solid proof behind the move.
