Bringing a Child into Poverty: Legacy of Hope or Endless Trap?

I’ve witnessed a troubling reality in many Nigerian homes. Bringing a child into poverty can feel like an act of faith. It can also feel like passing on a chain. Some believe every child is a blessing. They trust that love, resilience, and faith will overcome hardship. But poverty steals education, health, and opportunity from the next generation. I’m not here to judge. I want us to rethink our legacy and question whether we’re multiplying struggles or breaking them. Until we discuss poverty as a system, not a fate, little will change. What do you think? Is giving birth in poverty a hope-filled legacy or a trap we must escape?
