Why I Feel More Alive with My Kids Than with My Wife
I grew up watching my parents follow strict roles in marriage. I expected to be the firm head of my home and my wife to submit as my mother did. But two decades into marriage, I’ve learned that real family life is more complex. In our first year, financial stress and an unexpected pregnancy almost broke me. I battled loneliness and self-doubt before things slowly improved. Over time, exhaustion crept in and simple disagreements—especially over how to raise our children—became major clashes. Despite the challenges, I still believe love holds marriages together. It may not feel as thrilling as it once did, but it’s the reason we keep practicing patience, tolerance and kindness each day.
