Ilorin Court Issues Arrest Warrant for NSCDC Commandant in Assault Case
A Magistrate Court in Ilorin, Kwara State, has issued a warrant for the arrest of Abbas Mohammed, the state Commandant of the NSCDC, after he failed to appear at an assault trial. The court directed the Kwara State Police Commissioner to ensure his presence on June 10, 2026. The case follows a complaint by the Ilorin branch of the Nigerian Bar Association. Two NSCDC officers are accused of assaulting Barrister Aladodo Abdullateef Nurudeen at their office on April 10. The prosecution says the commandant disobeyed earlier orders to produce the defendants and personally attend the hearing. Defence counsel argued the commandant has lost confidence in the magistrate’s court and has petitioned for the case’s reassignment. The presiding magistrate stressed the need to uphold court directives and granted the arrest order to secure compliance.
