Yusuf Buhari, Obasa Secure APC House Nominations Amid Primaries Controversy

Yusuf Buhari, Obasa Secure APC House Nominations Amid Primaries Controversy

The All Progressives Congress held its House of Representatives primaries nationwide ahead of the 2027 elections. Among the winners were Mudashiru Obasa, Speaker of the Lagos State Assembly, and Yusuf Buhari, son of former President Muhammadu Buhari. In Katsina State, Yusuf Buhari topped the poll for Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency with 5,849 votes, while his nearest challenger managed just 21. Mudashiru Obasa ran unopposed in Agege Federal Constituency in Lagos and pledged to deliver effective representation if elected. The primaries faced protests in Kaduna and Adamawa over alleged vote manipulation and lack of accreditation. Fourteen aspirants were also disqualified in states including Rivers and Ebonyi. Observers warn these results could shape key battles for 2027.
