Lagos Police Arrest Woman Over Alleged ₦450m Land Fraud Involving 30 Buyers
Lagos police have arrested a 41-year-old woman over allegations that she collected about ₦450 million from roughly 30 prospective land buyers. The complainants alleged that they each paid about ₦9.45 million for plots of land in the South-East through a real-estate company, but the promised allocations never materialised. The case was reported at Ebute-Ero Police Division on July 10. The matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Yaba, where the Anti-Fraud Section is investigating. Police say the suspect will be arraigned after investigations are concluded and have advised prospective buyers to verify land titles, company registration and developers before making payments.
