Stop Blaming Only Tinubu—Demand Accountability from Governors and Local Leaders
It’s unfair to pin every problem in Nigeria on President Tinubu when governors, legislators, and council chairmen share real responsibility. Federal highways and national policies fall under the president’s remit, but state roads, schools, health centers, and water supplies depend on state and local budgets. States receive monthly FAAC allocations that doubled after subsidy removal. Yet some governors use those funds to clear salaries and build hospitals, while others leave roads in ruins and schools without roofs. Senators and representatives also have constituency project funds that often go unspent or unreported. Nigeria’s federal system divides power among three tiers of government. Citizens should hold their local leaders and governors accountable first, then direct the same energy used for national protests toward demanding clear project lists, budget hearings, and receipts from state and local offices. Development will accelerate when we stop outsourcing blame to Abuja and start demanding results from every elected official. Vote for performance, track spending, and ask: #WhereIsOurMoney?
