FG Launches Week-Long Mass Trial of 58 Terror Suspects at Abuja FHC
A fresh batch of 58 individuals charged with terrorism-related offences were brought before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday. The one-week trial is taking place across all courtrooms in the FHC. The proceedings were relocated from Kainji to Abuja for logistical convenience, allowing 10 judges to sit simultaneously. Security was tightened across the Central Business District, with roads leading to the court blocked by armed personnel. Attorney-General Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, leads the prosecution, while the Legal Aid Council’s Director-General, Aliyu Abubakar, heads the defence team. This follows an earlier phase in April when 500 suspects were tried at the same venue.
