Nigeria’s Inflation Climbs to 15.38% in March as Prices Surge

Nigeria’s headline inflation rate rose to 15.38% in March, up from 15.06% in February, according to the National Bureau of Statistics. The 0.32 percentage point month-on-month increase signals renewed pressure on consumer prices. On a year-on-year basis, inflation has eased from 27.35% in March 2025. Despite this, monthly inflation accelerated sharply to 4.18% in March compared with 2.01% in February. Breaking down the figures, urban inflation stood at 14.64% year-on-year and 3.16% month-on-month. Rural areas experienced more intense pressure, with inflation at 17.22% year-on-year and a 6.73% month-on-month jump.
