Why Peter Obi Can’t Win in Nigeria’s Corrupt System

I believe Peter Obi cannot win an election in Nigeria as long as corruption remains entrenched. Honest leadership threatens those benefiting from waste, and they will resist any change that exposes their looting. Every day we see propaganda and attacks aimed at silencing the idea that transparency and accountability are possible. Obi’s calls to cut costs, invest in education and healthcare, and govern modestly challenge a political order built on impunity. If Nigeria itself changes—by demanding oversight and resisting propaganda—anything becomes possible. Until then, the tension between truth and a corrupt system will define our politics.

It's clear politicians benefiting from waste will double down on propaganda whenever they feel threatened by a candidate like Obi.

But are we overlooking voter apathy as much as corruption itself? Changing minds on election day matters too.

Supporters should document and report vote buying or intimidation immediately to independent observers and credible watchdog groups.
