FCCPC Resolves Over 15,000 Lagos Consumer Complaints, Urges Nigerians to Seek Redress

FCCPC Resolves Over 15,000 Lagos Consumer Complaints, Urges Nigerians to Seek Redress

The FCCPC Lagos Zonal Office says it has resolved more than 15,000 of about 17,000 consumer complaints received through its online channels and physical office in Ikeja. The commission urged consumers to first seek a solution from a seller or service provider. If the matter remains unresolved, they can submit a detailed complaint to the FCCPC. Complaints should state the provider’s location, include proof of purchase where available, specify the amount involved and clearly state the redress sought. The FCCPC said it handles matters such as refunds, hidden charges, incorrect pricing, poor product labelling and substandard goods. It uses direct engagement, negotiation, mediation, conciliation and administrative hearings to resolve disputes. The commission also reminded businesses that product labels should be in English and encouraged Nigerians to report violations of their consumer rights.

Has anyone found that approaching the seller first actually speeds up resolution before escalating a complaint to the FCCPC?

Did you try reaching the seller through their official support channel first?

The resolution figure is encouraging, but consumers will still care about how long cases take and whether outcomes are satisfactory.

Keep receipts, chats, invoices, and a clear timeline of the issue. Try the provider first, then submit those records if escalation becomes necessary.
