How Voice of Nigeria is Shaping ECOWAS Narratives Under Ndace’s Leadership
When the Voice of Nigeria held its 2026 forum at the Shehu Musa Yar'Adua Centre in Abuja under the theme “51 Years of Nigeria’s Role in Deepening Democratic Stability in ECOWAS,” it became more than a routine conference. Under Director General Jibrin Baba Ndace, the broadcaster was recast as a “custodian of narratives” rather than a mere conveyor of information. Amid challenges such as the exit of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger from ECOWAS and a growing trust deficit, the forum united traditional leaders, security experts, and communication specialists. The gathering linked security, governance, and public trust and produced actionable resolutions with clear ownership for follow-up. The final communiqué called for fact-based journalism, regional communication strategies, and the institutionalisation of continuous dialogue platforms. By positioning VON as a strategic convener, Ndace has set a replicable model for public institutions to ensure lasting impact beyond any single tenure.
