The Lagos State Government disbursed over ₦2.13 billion to 3,301 vulnerable residents in the past year under the Eko Cares Financial Assistance Programme. Since 2020, the initiative has supported 11,991 households with total disbursements exceeding ₦4.6 billion. The programme targets indigent residents, students, small business owners, persons with disabilities, the elderly and vulnerable households. It provides direct cash grants, medical bill payments, educational support, housing assistance and business start-up funding. The 2026 budget allocates ₦3.14 billion to sustain these welfare efforts. Other interventions include a Mother, Infant and Child Development Programme that aided 2,315 pregnant women and the distribution of 20,000 food packs across all local government and council areas. Beyond financial aid, civic education reached nearly 18,000 students and 89,000 residents through workshops and town halls. The CitizensGate digital platform registered over 750,000 users and resolved 83% of citizen feedback, while voter education and legislative engagements continue to boost participatory governance.
