Lagos CP Warns Against Sharing Fake Security Alerts Online
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, has cautioned bloggers, content creators and social media users against posting unverified security information. He spoke at a strategic meeting in Ikeja and stressed that misleading videos and false reports cause panic, weaken trust in security agencies and disrupt public order. Tijani warned that anyone deliberately spreading false security content will be investigated and prosecuted. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to swift responses in protecting lives and property. He urged residents to verify information before sharing and to support police efforts by providing timely, credible intelligence. Senior officers have been directed to intensify community policing and inter-agency collaboration.
