11 Poetry Collections Longlisted for 2026 Nigeria Prize for Literature
The organisers of the Nigeria Prize for Literature have revealed the 2026 longlist, featuring 11 poetry collections competing for the $100,000 award. Sponsored by Nigeria LNG Limited, this year’s edition is dedicated to poetry. The line-up includes works by veterans such as Tanure Ojaide and Ogaga Ifowodo alongside emerging voices like Saddiq Dzukogi, Adedayo Agarau and Theresa Lola. Themes range from identity and memory to violence and spirituality. Since its launch in 2004, the prize has rotated annually among prose, poetry, drama and children’s literature. A panel of judges will now narrow the longlist to a shortlist, with the winner announced later this year.
