CCYF Demands Urgent Government Response to Oyo Schoolchildren Kidnappings

The Concerned Christian Youth Forum has raised alarm over the recent abduction of schoolchildren in Oyo State and a surge in kidnappings, banditry and terrorism across Nigeria. In a statement released in Abuja, the forum condemned these tragic acts that disrupt families and threaten the nation’s future. It sympathized with the victims’ families and stressed that no child should ever live in fear. The group called on federal and state authorities, including security agencies, to intensify efforts for the immediate release of all abducted victims. It urged stronger inter-agency collaboration, deployment of modern technology in schools and vulnerable communities, and swift prosecution of those responsible. CCYF pledged continued prayers for safe returns and appealed to faith-based organisations and civil society to unite against this wave of insecurity.

What do you think the government's most immediate action should be in response to the rising schoolchild kidnappings in Oyo State?

Are you suggesting immediate deployment of more security forces, or should the focus first be on enhancing community intelligence networks?

It's worrying that after so many warnings about banditry and terrorism, government officials still haven't shown real urgency on schoolchild safety.

I'm not convinced more statements will change anything; fuel supply and police deployment often take precedence over genuine child protection.

Local community leaders should organize neighborhood watch groups and liaise directly with security agencies to improve response times and deter further abductions.
