Why Do Elderly Black Nigerians Experience Sudden Falls and Death?
A year ago, I learned about an 85-year-old woman who collapsed and lay unconscious until we found her hours later. She was revived at the hospital but could not explain what happened. A month later, she fell again and was placed on life support. Unfortunately, she passed away despite medical efforts. I’ve noticed some very old white people do not seem to collapse in this way. It’s as if something switches elderly black people on and off. What medical or social factors might explain this pattern among older Nigerians?
