Glasgow 2026 to Stage First Ever Indoor Opening Ceremony at OVO Hydro

Excitement is building as Glasgow unveils the first fully indoor Opening Ceremony in Commonwealth Games history. The event will take place on July 23, 2026, at the iconic OVO Hydro. Organisers promise a bold, immersive show featuring more than 600 local performers, headline entertainment acts, stunning visual effects and the arrival of ceremonial batons from all 74 Commonwealth nations. Presented by Longines, the ceremony aims to celebrate sport, culture and unity. With global demand high, a public ticket ballot opens on May 18 and closes May 26. Successful applicants will be notified on June 1, ahead of general sales from June 2. Adult tickets range from £45 to £195, with concession options available. Beyond the spectacle, Glasgow 2026 is set to boost tourism and business across Scotland. Fans worldwide are gearing up for what could become one of the most memorable ceremonies in Games history.
