D’Tigress Hold Eighth Spot in FIBA Women’s World Rankings After Qualifiers
Nigeria’s D’Tigress maintained their eighth position in the latest FIBA Women’s World Rankings after finishing fourth in Group A of the World Cup Qualifiers. They secured wins over Colombia and the Philippines but lost to South Korea, France and Germany. The reigning African champions had already booked their spot at the 2026 World Cup by winning a fifth consecutive AfroBasket title. They defeated Mali 78–64 in the Abidjan final to claim their seventh overall crown and reinforce their continental dominance. The 16-team World Cup runs from 4–13 September in Berlin. The United States remain top after an unbeaten qualifiers run, while France leapfrogged to second. Belgium, China, Japan and host nation Germany also climbed the rankings following strong performances.
