Amoo Praises Fernandez’s First Super Eagles Goal in 2-2 Draw with Jordan

Amoo Praises Fernandez’s First Super Eagles Goal in 2-2 Draw with Jordan

Former Shooting Stars coach Fatai Amoo has praised the performance of Super Eagles defender Emmanuel Fernandez in Tuesday’s friendly against Jordan. The Rangers star scored his first senior national team goal as Nigeria held Jordan to a 2-2 draw. It was only his second cap after debuting against Iran last Friday. Amoo described Fernandez as a threat from the back. He commended the defender’s composure and said he has proven his worth at international level.

It's interesting that Amoo praised Fernandez so highly after a friendly that ended in a draw, but Jordan might not be top competition.

Scoring does stand out, but we still conceded twice in that warmup, so maybe the defence needs more work than praise.

Amoo's praise should translate into real minutes for Fernandez, giving him more exposure at right-back before the next qualifier.
