ADC Demands Inquiry into Tinubu’s Capacity to Govern Following BCDA Dispute
The African Democratic Congress has urged the National Assembly to verify whether President Tinubu remains capable of executing his duties. The call follows reports of a leadership clash at the Border Communities Development Agency, where an official removed by presidential directive allegedly continues in office. ADC warned this raises questions about unelected interests wielding presidential power and undermining executive authority. The party highlighted previous controversies, including the unregistered Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council and abrupt policy reversals such as the suspension of the Cybersecurity Levy and withdrawal of the Expatriate Employment Levy. ADC said these U-turns have eroded public confidence and confused investors and bureaucrats. ADC demanded clear answers on who currently exercises the president’s constitutional powers. It urged the National Assembly to use its oversight role to confirm that directives are personally made by the president. The party argued that if the president cannot assert authority over his administration, he should acknowledge reality and step down.
