APC Rift in Ogun Central: Amosun’s Claims Rebuffed at Heated Stakeholders’ Meeting

APC Rift in Ogun Central: Amosun’s Claims Rebuffed at Heated Stakeholders’ Meeting

A tense stakeholders’ meeting in Ogun Central exposed deep rifts within the APC. Former governor Amosun’s claim that President Tinubu ceded the senatorial ticket to him and urged support for the governorship collapsed when key leaders denied any such directive. Amosun also alleged that several aspirants stepped down in his favour. Those named — Obadara, Talabi, Salisu, Sofela and Oke — publicly rejected the assertion, sparking protests that brought proceedings to a halt. Critics questioned Amosun’s loyalty over alleged anti-party activities in previous elections. With trust eroded, control of the primaries now appears to rest with Governor Abiodun, former governor Osoba and Senator Adeola. Osoba has committed to reconvene stakeholders, but analysts warn that the public fallout could undermine APC unity and electoral prospects in the district.

I'm not convinced that outright denial at one meeting settles whether any informal support existed.

Party members should demand transparent documentation of any directives to avoid future confusion and public distrust.
