Tinubu Links Rising Insecurity to Weak Local Governments

President Bola Tinubu says the breakdown of grassroots governance is a major driver of Nigeria’s insecurity. He spoke on Democracy Day, stressing the need for effective local government administration to deliver real benefits to citizens. Tinubu highlighted his push for financial autonomy for all 774 local councils. He warned that without strong local government, democracy fails to reach the people and security challenges will worsen. Under the Renewed Hope Agenda, every Nigerian should share in progress, he said. The president called on citizens to unite, reject division and build a nation marked by justice, liberty and abundance.
