Newborn Twins Rescued After Abandonment in Benue Bush

Newborn Twins Rescued After Abandonment in Benue Bush — 1 of 5
1 / 5

A local task force in Vandeikya LGA discovered newborn boy and girl twins abandoned in a bushy slope known as “Wangbeen Jor” on April 25. The infants were wrapped in freshly plucked leaves with the placenta and a gown at the scene. Task force agents heard cries during routine sanitation duty and found one baby awake and the other asleep. Both twins were immediately handed over to nearby medical personnel for urgent care. The babies are now under the care of the Vandeikya Welfare Department. Local authorities are appealing to residents for any information that could lead to the mother’s identity.

It seems surprising those twins were wrapped only in freshly plucked leaves and left without proper cover or care.

I'm not convinced a local task force patrol alone can address deeper social pressures that lead to infant abandonment.

Task forces could partner with nearby clinics to ensure timely health checks and ongoing support for the rescued twins.
