Ogun Magistrates’ Court Arraigns 62-Year-Old for N1.4m Toyota Sienna Fraud

A 62-year-old man appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State for allegedly collecting N1.4 million under false pretences. He is accused of agreeing to sell a Toyota Sienna to a prospective buyer and diverting the money for personal use. The prosecution says the incident took place in Elewedu, Abule Ijoko, where Olawale Opaje received the funds but failed to deliver the vehicle. He pleaded not guilty to charges of fraud and obtaining money by deception under the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State. Magistrate O.O. Fadairo admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N150,000 with one surety of the same amount. The surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, be gainfully employed, and provide evidence of tax payment to Ogun State Government. The case has been adjourned for further proceedings.
