Nigeria to Host Strategic 3-Day Summit on Low-Carbon Hydrogen Economy

Nigeria to Host Strategic 3-Day Summit on Low-Carbon Hydrogen Economy

The Energy Commission of Nigeria has partnered with the EU Delegation and ECOWAS to hold a three-day summit in Abuja from 23 to 25 June 2026. The event will bring together senior officials from over 50 federal ministries, agencies, private sector players, academic institutions, and development partners. Participants will explore production technology, infrastructure logistics, market financing, governance, and regional integration. Building on policies such as the National Energy Policy 2022, the Climate Change Act 2021, and the Petroleum Industry Act 2021, the summit aims to align public and private stakeholders around Nigeria’s hydrogen pathway. It seeks to convert the nation’s natural gas reserves and renewable energy strengths into early, decisive action. Discussions will conclude with a 10-point “Hydrogen Leapfrog” strategy and voluntary institutional commitments to advance Nigeria’s low-carbon hydrogen agenda.
