Partey Ruled Out of Ghana vs Panama After Canadian Visa Appeal Fails
Thomas Partey will miss Ghana’s opening World Cup match against Panama after losing his appeal against a Canadian travel ban. Authorities in Canada blocked his entry into Toronto on June 18 due to ongoing criminal proceedings in the UK. The 33-year-old midfielder had his initial visa refused over multiple assault charges. Ghana FA officials pointed out that he already joined the squad in Providence, Rhode Island, but a federal court in Ottawa denied the emergency injunction. Coach Carlos Queiroz confirmed the team will adjust without Partey and will announce their starting lineup soon. Partey is expected to rejoin the squad for Ghana’s second game against England in Boston on June 23.
