Tinubu Aide Bwala Slams ‘Lazy’ Opposition Amid US Praise

Tinubu Aide Bwala Slams ‘Lazy’ Opposition Amid US Praise

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Policy Communication, described Nigeria’s opposition as “jobless” and “lazying about” during a recent broadcast on Channels Television’s Politics Today. He was responding to a letter from US President Donald Trump commending Tinubu’s leadership in tackling terrorism and protecting Christian communities. According to a statement from the presidency, Trump’s letter dated July 6 applauded Nigeria’s growing cooperation with the United States. Bwala argued that Nigerians are more concerned about the economy, education, and security than endless political attacks. He pointed to “substantial progress” under Tinubu and the first-ever close collaboration between Nigeria and the US government. He challenged the media to focus on these achievements and deeper bilateral cooperation rather than on what he called the opposition’s “lazying about.”

It's odd that a policy communications adviser resorts to name-calling instead of outlining policy differences with the opposition.

Calling the opposition 'jobless' ignores our real economic challenges and distracts from meaningful debate on policy.

Instead of insults, both sides should focus on outlining clear job creation strategies to address unemployment across the country.
