Dear Nigerian Banks: Pay Your Employees What They Deserve
I am deeply disappointed by how Nigerian bank owners treat their staff. Employees work tirelessly, yet earn only the minimum wage in naira. Meanwhile, CEOs and shareholders enjoy millions in foreign currency. This gap is not just unfair—it damages morale and trust. When some workers resort to stealing, it reflects the frustration of earning so little despite long hours and high performance. Foreign employers can only pay insulting salaries because local banks set the low standard. It’s not always the government to blame, but CEOs who put profit above people. I wish Nigerian workers would launch a class action suit. Let a court order banks to compensate staff and customers whose accounts were compromised. It’s time for fair pay in our banking sector.
