A’ja Wilson Makes History with Second 45-Point WNBA Game
Las Vegas Aces centre A’ja Wilson poured in 45 points against the Connecticut Sun to become the first WNBA player with multiple 45-point games. She shot 15-of-18 from the field, nailed both of her three-point attempts and went a perfect 13-for-13 at the free-throw line en route to 45 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks and a steal in just 32 minutes. According to ESPN research, Wilson is now the only player in league history to score 45 or more points while shooting at least 80% from the field. This marked her fifth career 40-point game, moving her past Breanna Stewart and Diana Taurasi. Her first 45-point outing came in August 2023 when she scored 53 points. Friday’s performance is now the second-highest scoring night of her career and tops the WNBA this season. Miami Heat star Femi “Bam” Adebayo was courtside for the milestone. After the game, Wilson praised her team’s system and focus on efficiency, while teammate Chelsea Gray celebrated watching “greatness in action.” She also reflected on her special memories at Mohegan Sun Arena ahead of the Connecticut Sun’s move to Houston.
