Five Essential Fruits of Genuine Repentance
Matthew 3:8 calls us to “produce fruits worthy of repentance.” John the Baptist challenged those at the Jordan River to prepare for true salvation by meeting certain conditions. First, we must admit we are sinners. Scripture reminds us that all have fallen short of God’s glory. Second, we must own our guilt and acknowledge the penalty we deserve. Third, genuine remorse must fill our hearts for the offense against Christ. Fourth, true repentance leads us to forsake sinful habits. Finally, we must be willing to restore what we have wrongfully taken and correct past wrongs. By embracing these five steps, we align our lives with Christ’s call to salvation.
