Rivers APC Clears 33 Assembly Aspirants, Including All 29 Incumbents; Disqualifies 65

The APC screening exercise in Rivers State concluded on May 10, 2026. A total of 33 aspirants were cleared, among them all 29 incumbent lawmakers aligned with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike. Sixty-five hopefuls were disqualified. The committee cited issues such as improper nominations, attempted inducement, unsworn affidavits, invalid documents and other irregularities. The cleared list includes Maol Dumle, Major M. Jack, Nwabochi Frankline and 30 others. Those not cleared feature Orubibanugha Timothy, Chime Eguma Ezebulike and 63 other aspirants. The committee commended party officials and security personnel for their cooperation. Meanwhile, the House Speaker, Martin Amaewhule, has already picked his nomination form for the 2027 federal elections.
