Dangote Refinery Becomes World’s Top Jet Fuel Exporter in April 2026

Dangote Refinery Becomes World’s Top Jet Fuel Exporter in April 2026 — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Lagos-based Dangote Refinery emerged as the largest global exporter of jet fuel in April 2026. A recent S&P Global report shows the facility shipped 158,000 barrels per day of aviation fuel that month, a 770% increase from April 2024’s 18,000 bpd. Disruptions in Middle East shipping routes drove airlines and distributors to seek new suppliers. Dangote’s west African location proved a reliable, closer option for Atlantic Basin and European markets. The boost in exports has helped strengthen Nigeria’s economic recovery and contributed to its first sovereign credit rating upgrade in 14 years. The refinery now plans to double capacity from 650,000 to 1.4 million bpd.

Sure, they topped April 2026, but using a single month snapshot for global leadership might overlook consistency challenges.

Scaling exports from 18,000 to 158,000 bpd requires solid logistics. Focus on port infrastructure and reliable inland transport to sustain this growth.
